Steam/Water Cycle Chemistry
Steam/Water Cycle Chemical Treatment and Chemistry Control
Sheppard T. Powell Associates, LLC (STPA) has reviewed and tailored a variety of steam/water cycle treatment programs for specific units and facilities based on site-specific factors. STPA has developed chemistry manuals with control limits and response procedures for startup, operation, shutdown and standby conditions. STPA has experience with the design, installation, startup and operation of chemical feed systems. STPA has performed waterside inspections of HRSGs and boiler equipment as part of an assessment of the success of the water treatment program in controlling corrosion and deposition. STPA also has provided plant-specific training on site at a number of power plants.
Sampling and Chemistry Monitoring
STPA has experience in the selection, design, installation, startup, operation and troubleshooting of various types of sampling systems, online analyzers and onsite laboratory facilities. STPA has developed procedures for calibration and maintenance of online instrumentation and laboratory manuals with procedures for grab sample analytical testing. STPA has trained operators to calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot online instrumentation, laboratory analytical procedures, and analyzers. STPA also has developed water chemistry programs with action levels and response procedures for startup, operation, shutdown and layup of equipment. STPA has worked with many facilities on data analysis interpretation and corrective actions. STPA has a laboratory for analyses of water, deposits, tube and pipe samples.
Condensate Filtration and Polishing (Demineralization)
STPA has experience in planning, design, installation, startup, operation and troubleshooting of various types of condensate filters – including precoat filters with powdered resin and/or cellulose materials and pleated filter designs. STPA has experience in planning, design, installation, startup, operation and troubleshooting of deep-bed condensate polishers (demineralizers). STPA has developed manuals and procedures for the operation of condensate filters and polishers (demineralizers).
Layup of Steam/Water Cycle Equipment
STPA has experience in the planning, design and procedure development of wet layup programs, dry layup programs and stand-by, warm-up programs for power plants. STPA is reviewing information on filming agents to enhance layup programs.
